JSC “Laser Systems” Held the Northern Capital Additive Forum 2.0: “Scaling SLM Technology”

The St. Petersburg-based company brought together manufacturers and operators of industrial 3D equipment from across the country at a specialized Additive Forum.

JSC “Laser Systems”, a Russian developer and manufacturer of metal 3D printers, held the second specialized “Northern Capital Additive Forum” dedicated to current issues of implementing additive technologies in Russian industry. The event’s partner was the Academy of Additive Technologies “Tsifra Tsifra”.

The Additive Forum brought together, at one venue, those who are directly shaping the actively developing Russian additive technologies market: operators of 3D equipment, manufacturers of 3D printing materials, software developers, engineers, and representatives of educational institutions of various profiles, highlighting the importance of workforce training for the development of additive manufacturing.


At the opening of the forum, a representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia spoke about the importance of properly applying government support measures. According to him, the competent implementation of additive technologies in production processes provides significant support to domestic manufacturers.

The business program of the event consisted of three sessions and covered issues of practical use of 3D equipment and the implementation of additive technologies in production, training in 3D printing and building human resources potential for the additive industry, as well as addressing quality and service issues in the field of Russian high-tech equipment.

Key topics of the forum:

• Analysis of practical experience: presentation of real-world case studies from 3D equipment operators.
• Economic potential of additive technologies: how to reduce costs, increase profitability, and gain a competitive advantage for business.
• Effective training methods: from theory to practice — how to master 3D printing.

The main agenda presented by “Laser Systems” at the Additive Forum focused on the quality of domestically produced 3D equipment and the level of service provided. This is a particularly relevant issue when it comes to high-tech equipment manufactured in Russia, which consumers sometimes view with a degree of skepticism. Ekaterina Chentsova, Director of the Quality Management Department, emphasized that Russian equipment often matches foreign analogues in quality and has the advantage of accessible service support, as demonstrated by the work of “Laser Systems”.

The first Northern Capital Additive Forum, held in 2024, demonstrated strong interest in additive technologies from industrial enterprises, and participants noted the need to create such platforms for sharing experience and knowledge in the field of additive technologies.

“Laser Systems” sees its mission in promoting additive technologies, and the forum serves as an important platform for exchanging experience and building connections between manufacturers of high-tech equipment and consumers.

As noted at the opening by company executives Dmitry Vasilyev and Alexey Boreysho, additive equipment is currently in high demand on the Russian market, and this trend will only continue to grow, given the wide range of production challenges that can be addressed using additive technologies.
